The surveyor was very knowledgeable about these types of properties and gave us some good advice.

The survey highlighted asbestos on the garage roof, so we are now looking to borrow additional funds to replace the garage. The report also highlighted that the property was on a sloping site and gave solutions which was helpful. We are now awaiting our mortgage to be agreed but hope to move forward with the purchase.

NON TRADITIONAL BUILDING SURVEY HELPED ME MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION

I came across 1stAssociated as I was trying to find surveyors who specialised in Non-Traditional property of which there doesn't seem to be many.

I found a video from 1stAssociated on YouTube CLICK HERE to view video, which gave some good information so I called them and after being advised how they could help me I was sent a detailed example survey.  I thought maybe the property was a Wimpey No Fines construction but on meeting the surveyor at the property he has advised it is a Pre-Cast Concrete.

The surveyor was very knowledgeable, and I look forward to receiving the completed report however if major works are required, we may have to reconsider the property.

MEETING THE NON TRADITIONAL BUILDING SURVEYOR WAS SO HELPFUL

After having an offer accepted on a 1960s timber framed house I went in search of a specialist surveyor, one that was familiar with non-standard construction houses and I found a video from 1stAssociated on YouTube CLICK HERE to view video.

I chose 1stAssociated after a fair amount of online research and a few phone conversations. It was clear they knew their stuff and I felt secure in the knowledge they would dig deep, know what they were looking for and not cut corners.

With a substantial amount of money on the line I needed to be sure there were no surprises, so I opted for the most detailed survey they offered.

On the day, I met the surveyor at the property.  He had  been there for an hour already and in total spent over half a day there.

He talked me through what he was doing and what he had discovered thus far.

The property needed far more work than I realised (I have enough building knowledge to know that I needed an expert!) including new flat grooves, electrics, plumbing, insulation and damp protection.

With current building regulations it meant that any work would likely require a full-scale renovation.

Armed with the photographs, recommendations and cost estimates as well as after survey report advice we costed the work and realised the house wasn’t financially viable as anything more than a building plot.

 Suffice to say that 1stAssociated saved me from making an expensive mistake….

I cannot recommend them highly enough, I’ll absolutely be engaging 1stAssociated when I find another property whether it’s non-standard or not.

I have faith in their ability to uncover issues that other surveyors may miss.
